Fundbot Raises $1.1M in Seed Extension Led by MEVP and Salica Investments

BDD community member Fundbot has secured $1.1 million in additional seed funding, bringing its total capital raised since 2023 to $2.6 million. The latest round was led by Middle East Venture Partners (MEVP) and Salica Investments, both returning investors, with Hub71 joining as a new investor.

With over $500 million in financing facilitated for more than 3,000 SMEs, Fundbot is now preparing to expand into two additional markets while developing new financial solutions.

Making SME Financing More Accessible

Founded in 2020 by Karl Abouzeid in Nice, France, Fundbot provides a digital platform that helps banks and financial institutions finance small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and their supply chains.

Access to working capital remains a major challenge for SMEs, particularly when businesses face delayed payments or lengthy financing procedures.

Fundbot addresses this challenge by helping financial institutions digitize and automate financing processes, from invoice and statement-of-account financing to credit risk assessment and underwriting.

Through its platform, financial institutions can streamline operations, use data to assess financing opportunities, and support businesses that need access to working capital.

Today, Fundbot operates across Lebanon, Jordan, and Egypt, with more than $500 million in financing facilitated for over 3,000 SMEs.

What’s Next for Fundbot?

The latest funding will support Fundbot’s commercial expansion and product development. Having already secured agreements to enter two additional markets, with launches scheduled for Q4 2026 and Q1 2027, the company is set to expand its presence to five markets. Fundbot is also extending its services toward North and Central Africa. The team is also working on introducing trade credit insurance, a co-lending fund alongside its partner banks, and AI-powered tools to enhance underwriting and credit risk assessment. Karl Abouzeid, CEO of Fundbot, discusses:

“SMEs are the backbone of our economies, yet access to working capital remains one of their biggest obstacles. With more than $500 million facilitated for over 3,000 businesses, we’ve shown that banks can finance SMEs faster and smarter when the process is digital and data-driven. This funding lets us bring that model to new markets across MENA and Africa.”

Alongside these developments, Fundbot is expanding its team and recruiting a Head of Sales MENA and a Project Manager to support its commercial growth, strengthen partnerships with banks and financial institutions, and oversee key projects across the region. With teams across Beirut, the UAE, and Nice, Fundbot continues to grow its international presence.

As Fundbot enters its next phase of regional expansion, BDD congratulates founder Karl Abouzeid and the entire team on this achievement.

This development also highlights the connections within BDD’s entrepreneurial ecosystem, bringing together growing technology companies and investors such as MEVP, and reflects the continued growth of businesses within the community.
