Buildink’s invention, to build concrete homes using 3D Printers, has caught international attention at the TechCrunch Disrupt SF event. The Lebanese construction tech startup first won at the MENA TechCrunch Startup Battlefield, hosted by BDD in 2018, receiving a USD 25,000 cash prize. This win allowed them to participate in the TechCrunch Disrupt SF event, which took place in October, 2019. Taking the international stage, Buildink’s team pitched their concept to an international audience, and their sites are now set on the global Startup Battlefield, which will further catapult them to change the way homes are built.
These two wins paved the way for Buildink to receive huge market exposure, scheduling meetings with world class investors and partners from the US, Europe and Asia, to take their company to the next stage.
Moalla Ilani, Co-Founder of Buildink, who took the stage in San Francisco, shares how the company envisions the new approach to building housing projects, both at a low cost and in an efficient manner.
BDD’s team caught up with Moalla, all the way in San Francisco, to gauge the experience. He shares that: “It was a really big challenge and valuable experience for my team to present on an international stage, and to compete with outstanding startups in the region. We learned a lot, and benefitted from the intensive training on how to pitch, directly from the TechCrunch team.”
The key insights that the team derived from the TechCrunch event were how to better understand their markets and the value of their technology to optimize delivering it to the world. The team also found that the main construction industry focus is geared towards building green solutions.
“Our main focus was to understand the ecosystem in other parts of the world,” Moalla shares, “and I hope to have the chance to build a bridge between both ecosystems, because aspiring individuals in the MENA region deserve more, and we must share the benefits of technology advancements in the US, in regional markets,” he adds.
Buildink is now focused on catering to a global market, with growing populations, and partnering with governments, and providing sustainable green solutions.
