Hollywood stars attend film screening in Beirut Digital District

A film centered around the lives of Palestinian refugee women in Lebanon brought Hollywood stars Susan Sarandon and UNHCR Goodwill Ambassador Ben Stiller to Beirut.

The actors landed in the city earlier this week and attended a special screening of the feature Soufra (Dining Table) at Beirut Digital District. The recent event is part of a global screening tour that has already seen the film showcase in several countries around the world.

Oscar-nominated Lebanese filmmaker Nadine Labaki also joined the stars at the event.

Executively produced by Sarandon and directed by Thomas Morgan, the film tells the inspiring story of entrepreneur Mariam Shaar, "a generational refugee who has spent her entire life in the Burj El Barajneh refugee camp, just south of Beirut, Lebanon."

It follows the woman as she defies all odds and launches a successful catering company, Soufra, which has since expanded into a food truck business.

Naturally, news of its Beirut screening made the rounds on social media and caught the attention of Sarandon and Stiller's fans.
